    Why are you here?

I've had an earnest desire to save the world since high school at least, and no one's ideas for saving the world have ever rung as true with me as Daniel's have (which doesn't mean I always agree with him, of course). I can't think of a better group of people to work with than those who have been similarly moved.

Any other personal information/resources/advice/ideas to share?

Lance Pierce ( and I have put together booklet versions of these Quinnian speeches: "The Little Engine that Couldn't: How We're Preparing Ourselves and Our Children for Extinction," "Reaching for the Future with All Three Hands," "A Path of Hope for the Future," "Technology and the Other War," "Protecting the Environment," and "Our Secret Plan" (originally titled "On Investments")suitable for photocopying and distribution. All of these speeches can be read in the Education section of this site. I've given these to people I know and continue giving them to new people I meet who I think might be receptive, and I also regularly put 'em out at bookstores, coffeehouses, libraries, health food stores, and the like, with the help of some other Bs in KC. If you'd like masters of these so that you can make your own copies for distribution, go to to download free PDF versions of the booklets (this pamphlet distribution has been approved by DQ).

Some of those other Bs and I also meet on an irregular basis to talk through Daniel's ideas and the saving of the world. This process of dialogue and discussion has helped these ideas become second nature to me and has also brought into my life some of my closest friends.

As a member of my local Sierra Club group and through my connections in the Kansas City "environmental" movement, I am always striving to convince those folks now working to "protect the environment" that what we really need to do is save the world.

Instead of buying copies of Daniel's books and giving them to people, I have a "library" of copies of both Ishmael and The Story of B which I loan out. I don't have a lot of money, so this allows me to reach many people without spending wads of cash. Some copies were even donated to this library by other folks who I recommended the book to.

I also write an occasional online column (at and maintain e-mail lists to which I send messages I think are likely to be of interest to folks with an earnest desire to save the world. Send me an e-mail if you're interested in subscribing to the latter.

In addition, I have started trying to identify folks in my area who are ready to take the next logical step (as I see it): forming a voluntary tribe.

Am I an "environmentalist"? Heck, no. I'm a community of life activist.
