This wonderful "Read Ishmael" icon was created by some unknown artist and nailed to a telephone pole outside 23rd Avenue Books in Portland OR a few days ago. Clearly "branded" as a Taker, the figure bears its "brand-name" on its face---written in barcode.

Joanna Rose, the Powell's events manager, remarked that the crowd at Daniel's Q&A session were unusually civil and considerate. They were that, as well as being excited to collect signed copies of ISHMAEL, PROVIDENCE, and THE STORY OF B.
