    Why are you here?

I've read Daniel Quinn's books, they strike me as truth, and I'd like to intereact with others that recognize this. I don't want to be a part of Taker society but I don't know any Leavers. 10/20/99 I just finished Beyond Civilization and have now met a few Leavers as well. Daniel Quinn's books have changed the way I live my life. 4-15-01 I first found these Quinn books and this website a few years ago. It took me a while to figure out how I could walk away. Today I own my own newspaper, live simply, and refuse to participate in as little of our Taker society as I can. I'm not starving and I'm happier (and more at peace) than I've ever been. I may never own a home (who really does?) or run for President (who really wants to?)or drive a Jaguar but that's okay because I know what the true price is and I'm not willing to pay it.

Any other personal information/resources/advice/ideas to share?

I am particularly interested in the way our population grows old, reactions to older persons, alternative ways of growing older and of dying. I write for a Senior newspaper and am always on the lookout for new and innovative ways of growing older, especially if we can make aging more enjoyable, more dignified, and be more in control of our own aging process. I like the idea of a tribe that honors it's elders.
