|Why are you here?|
I am newly returned to New York State and am trying to enter into my new community of Red Hook. I am an environmental educator and the director of education at the Hudson Valley Raptor Center, a non-profit rehabilitation and education center for injured birds of prey. I am also a new mom to Karana Gaia, born at home in Albuquerque, NM, on July 10, 2000. My current goals revolve around reconnecting community and nature. I want to help both myself and others reconnect with our roots in this planet: working with the land, working with each other, and seeing ourselves as part of this system instead of above it or outside of it. Maybe the phenomenon of becoming takers that only took a few generations can be reversed.
