    Why are you here?

Ishmael was required reading for a philosophy class I took last quarter. I started the book only because I wanted a good grade in the class, and it ended up being the best book I ever read. Ever since I can remember I've had the idea that something was fundimentally wrong with our society. However, I was never really able to articulate it the way Daniel Quinn has, and more importantly I had nothing to compare it to. Since then I've read "My Ismael", and "The Story of B" and I plan to read more of Quinn's works as soon as possible. I definetly share his vision, and as cheesy as it sounds, I want to help save the world.

Any other personal information/resources/advice/ideas to share?

I'm eighteen years old, and I'm a senior in high school. However I take all of my classes through Green River Community College in Auburn. I will most likely be attending this college next year as well. Aside from new philisophical viewpoint, and my feeble attempts to save the world through means which I have not yet discovered I'm interested in psychology, and photography. I have yet to decide what I'm going to do with my life, and I hope to find that the philosophy I've found in Quinn's writings will give me some kind of direction that wasn't available to me before.

I'd like to impliment this new perspective on life in any way I can. I'm open to ideas as well as getting in touch with other Quinn fans.

Also, I strongly suggest everyone check out Adbusters is an non-profit magazine. It's a magazine that supports many of the ideas presented in Quinn's writings. adbusters is pro-environment, anti-corporate, and definitely an advocater of social and political change. This is a good resource to find more information about current issues that effect our environment, economy etc..., as well as what you can do to help.
